Anika Smithson
Manager, Municipal Climate Internship
Anika’s (she/her) passion for the environment started young, fostered by the many outdoor adventures her parents took her on as a child. This led her to study, work and live in many different parts of Canada, learning about the importance of connection to nature, experiential learning opportunities and working in partnership with people and communities. She has an undergraduate degree in Earth Science from Carleton University, an Adventure Guiding Certificate from North Island College and holds a Masters of Community Development with a focus on environmental education from Acadia University.
Her previous experience includes working for both government and nonprofits in community engagement, communications and government relations on nature conservation issues and providing experiential learning experiences to youth. When not working, Anika can be found enjoying the outdoors or dabbling in various knitting or sewing projects.
